No add… yet!

presby.jpgI have been battling the onset of presbyopia for some months now and finally decided to have my eyes tested today. It felt a little strange being ‘in the chair’ for a change. However, needs must and whilst I promote regular eye care to the public it seems sensible that I should listen to my own advice.

But oh that cross-cyl is a tough one. I gave my optometrist – thankfully a fellow colleague, the complete run around before coming to a ‘spherical’ conclusion. I positively jumped out of the chair with the Pulsair and my eyes seemed to wander whilst clamped into the Humphrey. I could barely keep my droopy lids open wide enough for the Optomap and barely breathed throughout ophthalmoscopy.

All of this has reminded me of how tolerant I should be when patients take a long time to decide whether ‘one’ or ‘two’ is best.

But despite all this and more, I came away with a nice new frame and a prescription which read,

‘No add… yet!’
