How to write a CV - Part one
Ok then, with all the Newly Qualified Optometrists qualifying very soon I thought now might be a good time to write a series of articles about how to write a CV.
Bearing in mind that this will be the first time that most people have written a CV it will concentrate on the basics of writing a CV, the correct structure & layout and language and also a basic set of do’s and dont’s.
So with all that out of way the first thing we need to focus on is the content we put in the CV because no matter how good it looks, the content is the key thing.
So, we need to estbalish the following list of information before going forward:
- A chronological sequence of your employment history with accurate start and finish dates
- Full list of responsibilites and achievements for each role
- Full list of education establishments including extra curricular acheivements
- A genuine list of interests & achievements within these areas
- Start to formulate a clear understanding of what you want to achieve with your career - we will use this later as part of the personal statement
Once all of this information has been collated we can then start to write the CV…
Part two to follow.
David.
