Where is your CV?
One of the courses of action which people can do in order to find themselves work is to post their CV on a variety of different CV search websites and let the people contact you. This of course saves you doing all the calling around however it does raise the question where is your CV and who is looking at it?
This question was reinforced this week by a situation which involved a
candidate within a highly competitive arena. This candidate, prior to talking to us, had registered their CV on a variety of specific and generic CV Search sites in order to find a suitable role. However, after not progressing at a suitable pace they decided to register with ourselves to supplement this approach. We then went through our usual process of interviewing the candidate prior to talking to our clients about them.
When we approached our clients with his details, to our surprise and his, they already had his details as another agency had found it online and forwarded it to every company in the sector. Now in this example, it was nothing more than an annoyance as the candidate wasnt currently working but what would have happened if his own company had seen this information? The consequences don’t bear thinking about

Surely there are some regulations that have been broken here by the ‘online’ agency? Should they not ask for permission before sending CV information or is this something the candidate agrees to unwittingly when they upload their CV?

Jane,
Thanks for the reply - it may come as somewhat of a shock but if the company in question is not a member of the governing body then there is not allot you can do - scary, eh? In relation to whether it is something which is agreed to - I would suggest that people start reading that long list of T&C’s which you agree to when you sign up to use their service.
David.
